Pulitzer Prize
The Pulitzer Prize is a U.S. award for achievements in newspaper and online journalism,
literature, and musical composition. It was established in 1917 by provisions in the will of
American (Hungarian-born) publisher Joseph Pulitzer, and is administered by Columbia
University in New York City. Prizes are awarded yearly in twenty-one categories. In twenty of
these, each winner receives a certificate and a US$10,000 cash award. The winner in the public
service category of the journalism competition is awarded a gold medal.
The 2012 Pulitzer Prizes were awarded on April 16, 2012 by the Pulitzer Prize Board for work
during the 2011 calendar year.

Man Booker Prize
The Man Booker Prize for Fiction is a literary prize awarded each year for the best original fulllength novel, written in the English language, by a citizen of the Commonwealth of Nations,
Ireland, or Zimbabwe.

The 85th Academy Awards ceremony or The Oscars took place February 24, 2013. The
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) presented its annual Academy Awards to
