IIM IPM 2017 Analysis & Expected Score

IIM Indore IPM 2017 was conducted by IIM Indore on May 16, 2017 for admission to its five year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). The exam comprised 100 questions from two broad sections viz. Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability. The time limit of the exam was 120 minutes.There were somewhere 10 questions of type in variety without any option. Additionally, there were 3 questions in which more than one option was right, one will get marks only upon ticking all the options.

IPM 2017 Analysis: Quantitative Ability

The level of difficulty of Quantitative Ability section in IPM 2017 was high. There were 60 questions in this section. As opposed to previous years, there were 2-3 questions wherein the students were not given the options, they had to type the answers in the space provided.

The paper was a mix of various topics but was primarily dominated by Algebra, followed by Modern Maths. There were 7-8 questions on Logical Reasoning and 5-6 questions from AP/GP and Divisibility-Remainders each. There were also 2-3 questions each from Inequalities and Quadratic Equations. 4-5 questions were asked from Matrices and Determinants and Complex Numbers each.
In 75 minutes, an attempt of 36-40 can be considered a good attempt. A 140+ in this section can be considered a good score.

Verbal Ability

The difficulty level of Verbal Ability section was easy - moderate. The 40 questions in this section could easily be completed in around 45 minutes.

There were two Reading Comprehension passages. One passage was on the geological formation of rocks while the second passage concentrated on social networking and its impact on teenagers.
